A Spanish City rewards championship-winning athletes with their weight in tomatoes
Winning the FIFA World Cup comes with more than just a trophy in one Spanish city.

Spanish midfielders Fabián Ruiz and Gavi returned home to Los Palacios y Villafranca, where a longtime local tradition rewards championship-winning athletes with their weight in tomatoes.

Ruiz received 187 pounds of tomatoes, while Gavi took home 151 pounds—a unique hometown honor celebrating Spain's newest World Cup champions.
