Africa CDC Calls On US to remove Uganda from its Ebola-related entry suspension
Africa CDC Director General Dr. Jean Kaseya has called on the US government to remove Uganda from its Ebola-related entry suspension, noting that Uganda has reported no new confirmed cases since June 21, 2026, discharged its last patient and entered the 42-day countdown toward declaring the outbreak over.
Africa CDC has offered to share surveillance data with US health authorities and facilitate technical consultations. Meanwhile, WHO has warned of growing cross-border transmission risk into South Sudan following two confirmed cases in Haut-Uélé Province near the border.
