What happened in October 1582??
In 1582 Pope Gregory XIII reformed the Julian calendar (which overestimated the year by ~11 minutes, drifting the equinox ~10 days early) via the bull Inter gravissimas. To realign seasons for Easter, Catholic countries skipped 10 days: Oct 4 was followed by Oct 15. Weekdays continued normally.
