African Liberty, a platform that promotes civil discussions on the continent, has announced the opening of applications for its 2026–2027 writing fellowship.

The fellowship is a 12-month programme aimed at nurturing emerging writers across the continent.

In a statement, the organisation said applications for the fellowship opened on March 1, and will close on April 30.

The programme is designed to identify and support young African writers who are passionate about promoting the ideas of freedom, individual rights, and limited government.

According to African Liberty, selected fellows will work closely with experienced editors as part of a structured writing development programme scheduled to run from July 2026 to July 2027.

Participants will also receive a monthly stipend based on performance as top contributors, while gaining opportunities to feature on television and radio platforms.

The organisation added that fellows will have their work published in leading African newspapers, providing wider visibility for their writing and ideas.

Interested applicants can apply through the organisation’s website before the April 30 deadline.
