The Confédération Africaine de Football (“CAF”) has launched an Invitation to Tender (“ITT”) for the global commercial rights, including media, broadcast and sponsorship, for it’s most lucrative competition, the CAF Africa Cup of Nations (“AFCON”) for the period 2028, 2032 and 2036.
The Invitation To Tender (“ITT”) will close on Monday, 24 August 2026 at 17h00 Cairo local time (14h00 GMT). The CAF Africa Cup of Nations (“AFCON”) is Africa’s biggest event and the fastest growing global football competition.
The 2025 edition hosted in Morocco attracted a TV Audience of over 3.2 Billion and 6 Billion digital views – making it the third biggest global National Teams football event behind the FIFA World Cup and European Championships.
The Commercial Rights Invitation to Tender seeks an innovative partner aimed at unlocking new opportunities, revenue streams, increased global visibility, and enhancing the overall commercial value of the CAF Africa Cup of Nations.
The AFCON in Morocco delivered a 95% growth in commercial revenues – once again underscoring the popularity of the product, and the confidence of sponsors in CAF and African Football.
The successful bidder will work closely with CAF to build a world-class structure for the sale and distribution of media rights, sponsorships, and marketing assets, ensuring long-term sustainability and growth for African Football.
Through the sale of media and sponsorship rights for its football tournaments, CAF generates income which is essential to support and develop football across the continent.
The tender process will allow CAF to select a partner that is best placed to achieve its objectives of providing maximum exposure for the tournament and offering fans a high-quality viewing experience.
