Cue, the AI customer service platform backed by Knife Capital and FAM Investments, has launched Phone, its first product release following the $5 million funding round announced in July. Cue lets businesses take and make calls in the same platform they use for WhatsApp, Email, Web Chat and Facebook Messenger. It is the first of the product priorities Cue named when the round was announced, which included investment in voice, ai, security and integrations.

A connected layer for customer service

Customers don't stay in one channel. They may start with a WhatsApp message, follow up by email, or call when an issue becomes urgent or hard to explain in writing. Yet many businesses still run those conversations through separate tools: a phone system in one place, messaging in another, each with its own provider and contract. Teams switch between systems, customers repeat themselves, and as costs rise, operations leaders are looking to consolidate.

Cue's strategy is to bring customer-facing channels into one connected service layer, alongside the systems businesses already use. With Cue, teams can route calls with keypad menus and opening hours, answer, hold and transfer them between colleagues, and make agent-led outbound calls.

Momentum since July

Cue works with over 500 companies globally and handles over 500 million conversations a year. The company grew annual recurring revenue by 160% in its latest financial year.

"Businesses shouldn't need a different system, supplier and bill for every way a customer gets in touch. That fragmentation is exactly what we're working to change. We raised $5 million to build Cue into a connected customer service platform that helps businesses bring more of their operation together. Phone is the first major step since the raise: calls now sit alongside digital service in Cue, giving teams a practical way to start consolidating the tools and costs that come with managing channels separately."

Richard Nischk, Chief Executive Officer, Cue

#### The next phase of AI
Calls in Cue are answered by people. On digital channels, Cue's current AI Agents draw on its knowledge base to answer customer questions and hand over to a human team when needed. The next generation is being designed to take actions across connected business systems, such as qualifying leads, checking order status and booking appointments. Cue expects to introduce the first of these capabilities in early 2027. The approach remains the one Cue set out in July: automation first, but never automation only.

"Customer service has become fragmented across channels, tools and suppliers. Our investment backs Cue's next step in bringing that operation together. Phone extends Cue's platform to calls, giving businesses a practical way to consolidate customer service tools while working alongside the contact-centre technology already in place."
