Project focus:
WATERSHED is a Danida Fellowship Centre funded project exploring informal climate adaptation to flooding in Nairobi. Investigates tension between policies/government actions that increase vulnerability and everyday climate justice actions by community activists. Research on perceived vulnerabilities, climate justice actions, and local adaptation initiatives related to flooding.
Funding:- Fully funded with competitive stipend and educational fees- Includes 3-month research stay at Roskilde University, Denmark
Eligibility:- Master’s Degree in International Relations, Political Science, Sociology, Human Geography, Anthropology or Development Studies- Bachelor’s Degree Upper Second Class and above in above disciplines
- Experience working with communities in informal settlements and/or passion for study area
- Proficiency in mixed methods, qualitative and quantitative analysis e.g. NVIVO and SPSS
- Oral and written English at academic level; Swahili and one other Kenyan vernacular language
- Willing to do at least 9 months fieldwork and full-time commitment for 4 years
