Did you know that six Nobel Prize laureates have been nominated for an Academy Award? Most recently, 2017 literature laureate Kazuo Ishiguro received a 2023 nomination for Best Adapted Screenplay for the film "Living."
The other Nobel Prize laureates who have been nominated for an Academy Award include: George Bernard Shaw (literature 1925), John Steinbeck (literature 1962), Jean-Paul Sartre (literature 1964), Harold Pinter (literature 2005) and Bob Dylan (literature 2016).
Of those, only Shaw and Dylan have received the Oscar award. Shaw was awarded the 1939 Oscar for Best Writing, Screenplay for adapting his play Pygmalion for the screen. Dylan received the 2001 Oscar for Best Original Song for the song "Things Have Changed."
