Nigerian startup ChipMango has raised a US$1.9 million seed round of funding to expand chip-design operations across Africa, Europe, and the United States (US).
Founded in 2022 by Ola Fadiran and Jovan Andjelich, ChipMango partners with leading semiconductor companies to deliver industry-aligned learning and certification programmes that prepare learners for real-world roles. Its AI-powered platform provides custom-built labs and curated course content, giving educators and universities the tools to turbocharge their microelectronics curriculum.
The startup’s $1.9 million seed round was led by Atlantica Ventures, with DFS Labs, Madica, Kaleo Ventures, Trilinear Technologies, and Malta Ventures also participating. ChipMango will deploy the capital raised towards expanding its engineering and product teams while growing operations across Africa, Europe, and the United States.
A design centre in Malta is in the pipeline, supported by Malta Ventures, while ChipMango also plans to support initiatives around semiconductor capability, workforce development, and AI infrastructure in Rwanda.
The company’s expansion comes as demand for semiconductor and AI infrastructure capabilities grows globally, creating opportunities for engineering talent in emerging markets to participate in increasingly complex parts of the technology supply chain.
“The next era of AI will not be defined by software alone. It will depend on who can design the chips, systems and intelligent hardware that power it. ChipMango is expanding access to those capabilities so more regions can help build the technologies shaping the future,” said Fadiran.
“ChipMango converts Africa’s deep engineering talent into world-class chip-design capability, already proven through production-grade work for global customers. We believe it can become foundational infrastructure for the next generation of smart devices and semiconductor IP,” Anikó Szigetvári, founding partner at Atlantica Ventures, said
