CALL FOR APPLICATIONS – MSc Degree-Seeking Scholarships (RAMDDA Project)


Overview: 

The Research and Academic Mobility for Drug Design and Discovery in Africa (RAMDDA) project is offering fully-funded MSc scholarships through its degree-seeking research mobility scheme. These scholarships support two-year (24-month) research training at partner African universities, leading to a Master’s degree from the host institution. 


The scholarships aim to:

✓ Strengthen postgraduate research capacity in Africa

✓ Promote inter-institutional research collaboration

✓ Provide advanced training in experimental and computational aspects of drug design and discovery 


Host Institutions & Available Slots - Candidates will be placed at one of the following African universities:

✓ University of Botswana — 2 scholarships

✓ Botswana International University of Science and Technology — 2

✓ Addis Ababa University (Ethiopia) — 3

✓ Adama Science and Technology University (Ethiopia) — 2

✓ University of Ghana (Ghana) — 2

✓ University of the Free State (South Africa) — 1


Eligible Research Areas - You can apply if your proposed MSc research focuses on drug design and discovery in one of the following fields:

✓ Organic Chemistry (including natural products, synthesis, materials chemistry)

✓ Physical Chemistry

✓ Computational Chemistry

✓ Bioinorganic Chemistry

✓ Materials Science or related disciplines with drug discovery relevance 


Eligibility - To apply you must:

✓ Be an African national and resident in an African country

✓ Propose research that contributes directly to your MSc thesis

✓ Be able to undertake full-time research at a host university in a different African country from your own

 ✓ Applications from female candidates and other under-represented groups are especially encouraged.

✓ Passport (biodata page)

✓ Research proposal

✓ Academic transcripts

✓ Curriculum Vitae

✓ Motivation letter

✓ Proof of residence

✓ Language test results (if applicable)

✓ Optional supporting documents (e.g., publications, work experience certificates) 


Financial Support:

✓ Funding covers eligible costs according to RAMDDA and EU mobility rules, supporting the full 24-month research period.
