RESEARCH GRANT OPPORTUNITY FOR AFRICAN EDUCATION RESEARCHERS


What if your research could do more than sit on a shelf?


The African Centre for School Leadership (ACSL), in partnership with the Mastercard Foundation, is inviting applications for its Cohort II School Leadership Research Grants.


The grants support rigorous, action-oriented research focused on school leadership and improving learning outcomes across Africa. Successful researchers will also work with policymakers, practitioners and school leaders to help turn research evidence into meaningful change. 


What is available?

🔹 Descriptive Action Research Grant: Up to $15,000

• 16 grants available

• 12-month research period

🔹 Comparative Action Research Grant: Up to $35,000

• 7 grants available

• 24-month research period


Eligible countries: All African countries


Who can apply?

Applicants must:

• Be an African citizen based in Africa

• Conduct research focused on school leadership in one or more African countries

• Have a Principal Investigator with a Doctorate in Education, Educational Leadership, Educational Management, or a closely related field, obtained within the past 5 years

• Form a multidisciplinary research team of 3–5 members

• Use an action-research approach and collaborate meaningfully with practitioners and policymakers
