Safran Landing Systems has signed an agreement with Morocco to establish a €280 million ($332 million) landing gear manufacturing plant near Casablanca.
Safran Landing Systems, a subsidiary of the French aerospace group Safran, has signed an agreement with Morocco to establish a €280 million ($332 million) landing gear manufacturing plant near Casablanca.
The facility will supply components for the Airbus A320 family and support rising production rates, Safran Chair Ross McIness said during a signing ceremony at the Royal Palace in Casablanca, chaired by King Mohammed VI.
McIness noted that the new plant will not only reinforce output for the A320 programme but also position Safran for the next generation of short- and medium-haul aircraft, according to Reuters.
Morocco’s Minister of Industry and Trade, Ryad Mezzour, described the investment as a major step in the country’s strategy to deepen its role in global aerospace supply chains.
The factory, expected to be one of the largest landing gear production sites of its kind, is scheduled to begin operations in 2029, according to Safran.
The deal builds on agreements signed in October between Safran and the Moroccan government to launch an engine assembly line for Airbus aircraft and a maintenance and repair facility at Midparc, the aerospace-focused industrial zone near Casablanca.
