South African startup Cue, a of customer service software, has raised US$5 million in funding to accelerate the development of its AI-powered customer service platform as businesses increasingly adopt autonomous AI to resolve customer issues end-to-end.
Founded in 2015, Cue enables businesses to help customers quickly and efficiently with chatbots and live chat on WhatsApp and social channels. It powers customer conversations for more than 500 companies and brands across South Africa and the United Kingdom (UK).
Disrupt Africa reported in late-2024 the startup had launched AI Agents, a new service that empowers businesses to automate routine inquiries, personalise customer interactions, and deliver exceptional service at scale.
Cue has now raised US$5 million in a funding round co-led by Knife Capital and FAM Investments, which will support continued product development, international expansion and deeper investment in voice, security and enterprise integrations. This follows a US$2 million raise in early-2024.
“It’s an exciting time of transformation for the company,” said Richard Nischk, CEO of Cue. “We’re at an inflection point for AI in customer service, and we see more businesses starting to realise that they need a unified platform to succeed, not a patchwork of point solutions.”
