GCUB International Mobility Program is a fully funded scholarship opportunity for international students to pursue Master's or Doctoral (PhD) degrees in Brazil. 


It's offered by the International Cooperation Group of Brazilian Universities (GCUB), involving dozens of Brazilian universities.


For the 2027 intake:

▪︎ Applications open: May 25, 2026

  ▪︎ Application deadline: July 6, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. (BRT)  

▪︎ Programs start: 2027 
✅ 539 Master's scholarships

✅ 350 Doctoral scholarships

✅ Opportunities across 62 Brazilian universities affiliated with GCUB 

Key Benefits
▪︎ Fully waived/exempted by the host university. 


▪︎ Monthly stipend: Provided by the host university (reference value based on Brazilian federal agency levels like CAPES for Master's/PhD students). This helps cover living expenses;

 
▪︎ Access to university services: Includes restaurants (if available), libraries, labs, etc., on the same terms as local students. 


▪︎ No application fee: Free to apply. 


▪︎ No IELTS/English test required at application: Language requirements depend on the specific program (some may be in English, but most expect Portuguese eventually).


 Selected candidates must reach at least intermediate Portuguese before defending their thesis/dissertation.
▪︎ Open to citizens of countries with diplomatic relations with Brazil (not Brazilian nationals). 


▪︎ You can apply to up to 5 programs


Eligibility & Requirements


▪︎ Bachelor's degree (for Master's) or relevant prior degrees (for PhD—check if Master's is needed for your target PhD program).


▪︎ Two essays per program choice:》Essay 1: Academic/professional expectations + return to home country (max 1,000 words).


》Essay 2: Detailed research proposal (max 4,000 words).


▪︎ CV, ID/passport copy, diplomas/transcripts, etc. (PDF uploads).▪︎ Applications in English, Portuguese, Spanish, or French.
