The Singapore AI Safety Fellowship is an independent research fellowship that connects fellows with leading mentors working on technical AI safety and governance. Fellows conduct research for three months in Singapore, building the skills and relationships for international coordination on AI safety.

It's built for researchers who want their work to inform real-world AI safety practice, on top of publishing it. Singapore's role as a globally connected, policy-engaged hub makes that possible.

Three months in Singapore. A stipend of SGD 5,000/month, housing and travel covered, and up to USD 30,000 in compute per project.

The fellowship is built for researchers who want their work to inform real-world AI safety practice. Fellows are matched with experienced mentors to produce joint technical and governance research, working across Eastern and Western institutions in a way few programmes make possible.

Mentors confirmed so far include researchers from Oxford University, NUS, Tsinghua University, Fudan University, Anthropic, Concordia AI, and the International AI Safety Report, with more to be announced.

Research areas span technical safety, agent governance, and loss of control. Applications close July 10. The cohort runs from September 21 to December 4, 2026.
