Egyptian startup Stakpak, the developer of one of the first open-source autonomous DevOps agents, has been acquired by Vercel, a US-based cloud platform valued at US$9.3 billion.
Founded in 2023 by George Fahmy, Stakpak initially launched as an AI-powered assistant that enabled developers to generate infrastructure-as-code configurations using natural language, but later evolved into a production-grade autonomous DevOps platform capable of reducing infrastructure management tasks from nearly four hours to around 50 minutes.
It also introduced open-source agent frameworks and AI-driven infrastructure security systems, gaining traction among developers building self-managing cloud environments.
The startup, which raised US$500,000 in pre-seed funding early last year, has now been acquired by Vercel in a deal that continues the latter’s strategy of evolving from a web application hosting platform into a comprehensive AI infrastructure provider. The US company has made Stakpak its third acquisition in less than a year.
The company believes the next generation of software will increasingly be developed and managed by autonomous AI agents rather than human developers alone. In September last year, it raised US$300 million in Series F funding, reaching a valuation of US$9.3 billion.
